A miniaturized antenna for 2G/3G frequency‐band applications

Abstract: measured results in [4] indicates good agreement and illustrates the validity of our procedure. CONCLUSIONThe main quasi-static parameters of a microstrip line with a finite-width ground plane and, eventually, dielectric substrate have been calculated by using the conformal mapping method (CMM) and a new formulated method of moving perfect electric wall (MPEW). Good agreement with other solution methods has been achieved. The presented method is simpler and provides a clear analytical review of the effect of g… Show more

“…A model DPX202690DT diplexer manufactured by TDK Corporation, which has a low insertion loss of 0.24 dB from 704 to 960 MHz, 0.38 dB from 1710 to 2170 MHz, and 0.83 dB from 2170 to 2690 MHz, was used in the circuit board to combine the two signals of low and high bands. The practical internal antenna design of compact size is for multiband operation and used in 2G/3G/4G communication system [11,12]. In order to enhance the antenna performance, two ground regions are removed from the printed circuit board under the antenna area.…”

“…The conventional capacitive feed mainly has a coupling strip or coupling portion only, and with the capacitive feed, widened bandwidth in the lower band (900 MHz band) of the antenna [16] or reduced size of the antenna [17,18] has been demonstrated. In [5], by using a coupling stub as the capacitive feed, two wide operating bands are achieved to cover GSM850/900/1800/1900 quad-band operation for the loop antenna with an occupied volume of 3.4 cm 3 .…”

“…The large bandwidth at 900 MHz for the antenna's lower band is achieved owing to the use of the coupling feed. Compared to the use of the direct contact feed for the conventional PIFA, the use of the coupling feed contributes additional capacitance to the antenna's input impedance [11][12][13][14], which not only compensates for the high input inductance of the antenna but also introduces additional resonances (zero reactance) at around 900 MHz. This behavior leads to a dual-resonance excitation for the antenna's lower band, hence a widened operating band covering GSM850/900 operation is obtained.…”
