A Mobile IoT-based Elderly Monitoring System for Senior Safety

Mohamed Khaled Mohyeldin Naeim,
Gwo Chin Chung,
It Ee Lee
et al.

Abstract: Traditional elderly monitoring systems may misdiagnose and treat senior citizens due to inaccurate results, resulting in higher care costs and poorer health outcomes. Thus, the Internet of Things (IoT) was introduced to provide accurate, real-time monitoring data to improve overall performance. The IoT health system connects devices wirelessly to collect and analyze health data, monitor vital signs and physical activity, and provide real-time insights to improve health management. This paper aims to monitor re… Show more

“…The development of the IoT-based system utilizes hardware, namely the NodeMCU-12E microcontroller board, equipped with a Wi-Fi module to support communication [14], [15]. The NodeMCU-12E board functions as a controller for temperature sensors and actuators [16]. For the temperature sensor, the system employs the DHT22 module, capable of accurately measuring both temperature and humidity with a humidity accuracy level of 2-5% relative humidity (RH) and temperature accuracy of less than 0.5 o C [17], [18].…”
