A Model of Pyrolysis Carbon Black and Waste Chicken Feather Using a Response Surface Method in Hot-Mix Asphalt Mixtures

Abstract: Research on waste tire pyrolysis carbon black (PCB) in bitumen mixtures indicates that it has excellent high-temperature rutting resistance; however, the degradation of low-temperature crack resistance and water stability of PCB-modified asphalt limits its wide application. Therefore, the low-temperature crack resistance and water stability of PCB-modified hot-mix asphalt (HMA) were enhanced by addition of waste chicken feather (WCF). Based on the response surface methodology (RSM), a variance analysis (ANOVA)… Show more

“…Although experimental studies have proven that mixing char derived from plastic or tire waste with bitumen improves the bitumen properties (Table 3), each study has used its own procedure and characterization method. This means that direct comparison of different bitumen modification Gan et al 41 10 Tire waste GF-70 bitumen methods with plastic-and tire-waste-derived chars is rather difficult. This problem needs to be resolved for further development and optimization of the use of plastic-and tire-waste-derived chars in bitumen modification.…”

“…Furthermore, this way saves laboratory time and reduces the manpower and material consumption. It is widely employed in chemical industry [ 26 , 27 ], materials science [ 28 ], building materials engineering [ 29 ], and pavement engineering [ 30 , 31 , 32 ]. Ahmed I. Nassar et al applied RSM to optimize the mix proportion of emulsified asphalt mixtures [ 33 ].…”
