A Modified Loo Model with Partially Blocked and Three Dimensional Multipath Scattering: Analysis, Simulation and Validation

Abstract: This paper presents a novel mobile fading channel model, belonging to the class of Loo models, in which the multipath power arrives both in three dimensions (3-D) and in two angular sectors at the azimuth receiver's plane. Moreover shadowing affects the amplitude of the line of sight (LOS) component, making it time varying and following a lognormal distribution, as required for a Loo model. The Doppler power spectral density (PSD) is analytically calculated, after Fourier transforming the closed form autocorre… Show more

“…(123-125)], [6] and [7] have in common that a uniform distribution for the angles of arrival in the azimuth plane has been considered. A simple model which combines both 3-D scattering and sectored arrival of multipath energy can be viewed in [8]. In [9] a generalized Doppler PSD has been derived in closed form for arbitrary 3-D scattering environments.…”

“…In [20], the distribution of the arriving multipath power was considered to be a restricted uniform in both the azimuth and elevation plane and in [21], new modified sinusoidal functions for the elevation AOA distribution were presented. In [22] and [23], new discontinuous azimuth AOA distributions were considered, while the distribution for the elevation AOA was that of Aulin in [14]. Finally, in [24] and [25], two bivariate joint distributions for the azimuth and elevation AOA were used, namely, the Fisher-Bingham distribution and the von MisesFisher distribution, respectively.…”

“…In 3-D scattering environments, statistical dependence between the azimuth and elevation AOA and multi-modal arrival of multipath power is only considered in [24] and [25]. In [22] and [23], it is considered only bimodal arrival of multipath power and statistical independence between the azimuth and elevation AOA.…”
