A Multilevel Inverter Bridge Control Structure with Energy Storage Using Model Predictive Control for Flat Systems

Abstract: The paper presents a novel technique to control the current of an electromagnetic linear actuator fed by a multilevel IGBT voltage inverter with dynamic energy storage. The technique uses a "cascade model predictive control (MPC), " which consists of two MPCs. A predictive control of the trajectory position predicts the optimal current, which is considered to be the desired current for the second MPC controller in which a hysteresis control technique is also integrated. Energy is stored in a capacitor using en… Show more

“…In the proposed MPVC, determination of the duration for the nonzero voltage vector is the key to control system. Hence, slopes of the capacitor filter voltage for the nonzero voltage 1 vector and the zero voltage vector 0 will be calculated easily from (11) [14,15,23].…”

“…With the increasing demand for conversion efficiency during recent years, multilevel converter topologies have become more and more applied to the grid-connected PV generation system [1][2][3][4]. Among all kinds of multilevel inverters, the cascaded H-bridge (CHB) has many advantages, such as modularization, simplicity, and high reliability, which makes it become the most attractive topology [5][6][7][8][9]. In addition, the CHB topology makes it possible to, respectively, regulate each DC-side voltage and, thus, realizing the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of each PV module.…”

“…In electric grid, hybrid 'more-electric vehicles', automobile high-intensity discharge headlamps, uninterruptible power supply, and luxury loads application multiport and multilevel power converters popular solutions [1][2][3][4]. Some advanced predictive control based on the multilevel converter is also proposed for energy storage [5,6]. Fuel cells have many features, including compatibility, size, and modularity [7,8].…”
