A Multiuser Detection Algorithm for Random Access Procedure With the Presence of Carrier Frequency Offsets in LTE Systems

Abstract: In the LTE system, uplink synchronization can be established through the random access channel, by which timing and frequency offsets between transceivers can be estimated and adjusted. As the single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) structure is utilized in LTE uplink, preambles for the random access channel should be generated and detected in the transform-domain at user equipments and the base station, respectively. However, in available literature, an explicit transformdomain signal mode… Show more

“…The maximum number of SIC iterations max I is 15, which is the same to CRDSA/IRSA scheme. The predefined preamble detection threshold pre γ is 3.2, which is determined by a false alarm probability [15]. The detailed parameters can be shown in Table 1.…”

“…Then, due to Doppler effect, the CFO would be significantly higher. A hybrid algorithm for joint CFO estimation and user detection is proposed in [20]. Unfortunately, it's user detection performance is very sensitive to channel SNR variation (see [7,Figure 2]).…”

“…The first one is the MS-HMUD algorithm proposed in [20], the second one is the SIC algorithm in [7], and the third one is the Block-SIC method of [11]. In Figure 12a we plot the miss-detection rates of the proposed algorithm, SIC method [7], Block-SIC [11], and MS-HMUD [20] as functions of SNR min . The In Figure 12b we plot the miss-detection of different methods as functions of CFO for different numbers of users.…”
