A Near‐Infrared Fluorescent Nanosensor (AuC@Urease) for the Selective Detection of Blood Urea

Abstract: Quantum dots and noble metal quantum cluster (QC) based fl uorescent probes are of interest for the detection of specifi c analytes of biological as well as nonbiological origin. [ 1 ] They exhibit size tunable fl uorescence emission ranging from UV/Vis to NIR region. [ 2 ] When compared to semiconductor quantum dots, gold clusters (AuCs) are advantageous due to the less toxicity of the latter. Applications of gold clusters include targeted cancer imaging, biological labeling, detection of proteases, glutara… Show more

“…The increases of the fluorescence intensities may result from the better protection of the AuNCs by cells against the environment and inhibition of oxygen (O 2 )-mediated quenching [38, 9297]. While the fluorescence quenching may be attributed to an energy or electron transfer process [98101] or the aggregation of AuNCs [77, 102] induced by cells.…”

“…3). Likewise, the compositions of the clusters were estimated as (Au) 33 (SG) 28 , (Au) 33 (SG) 28 , (Au) 33 (SG) 11 and (Au) 8 (SG) 2 for AuC1, AuC2, AuC3 and AuC4 respectively. These assignments were further validated theoretically using m mass software (Fig.…”
