A network pharmacology approach for investigating the multi-target mechanisms of Huangqi in the treatment of colorectal cancer

Abstract: Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most prevalent cancer globally. In the treatment of CRC, surgical resection is commonly adopted, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy or immunotherapy is mainly administered for patients with advanced disease. However, despite the developments in the field of cancer treatment, the mortality rate of CRC has remained high. Therefore, novel treatments for CRC need to be explored. Astragalus membranaceus, commonly known in China as Huangqi (HQ), a traditional Chinese medici… Show more

“…Among the enriched CCs, anchored component of plasma membrane [ 98 ] was associated with CA4. collagen-containing extracellular matrix [ 99 ] was associated with ZG16. Four CCs term bicellular tight junction [ 100 ] apical junction complex [ 101 ] and cell–cell junction [ 102 ] were associated with CLCA1.…”

“…The discipline of network pharmacology has successfully surmounted past challenges associated with single-target, single-drug investigations. It has garnered considerable momentum in the identification of active constituents and comprehension of efficacious approaches [22]. The organization of pharmacological and structural health networks is aligned with the complete qualities of Propolis, which contributes to the advancement of our comprehension of the intricate mechanisms encompassing many ingredients, targets, and pathways in herbal therapy [23][24].…”

“…There are four main factors in TCM syndrome of CRC: deficiency, dampness, stasis and toxin ( 13 ). At present, in the clinical treatment of various malignant tumors, drugs to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis are often used in the prescription of syndrome differentiation, and a lot of treatment experience has been obtained ( 14 , 15 ). There is therefore a need to investigate the role of SV in CRC, and the potential mechanisms.…”
