A new approach to the particle‐size effect correction in the x‐ray fluorescence analysis of multimetallic ore slurries

Abstract: A method of correcting for particle-size effects in the XRF analysis of ore slurries is proposed. The use of a calculated heterogeneity factor for correcting the intensity of fluorescent x-rays from the determined element is suggested. The possibility of using a value of a weight fraction of particles smaller than 75 pm for determining the heterogeneity factors has been studied. The method has been tested experimentally on samples simulating zinclead and copper ore slurries.
