A new asymmetrical mass distribution method on the analysis of universal “force-sensing” model for 3-DOF translational parallel manipulator

Abstract: Purpose – The characteristic of static is quite important especially for the manipulator with force feedback. This paper aims to improve the traditional static model by considering the limitations such as lacking of versatility and ignoring gravity of links. For this purpose, a new asymmetric mass distribution method on the analysis of universal “force-sensing” model has been put forward to overcome the limitations. Design/methodology/approach … Show more

“…In this paper, a method based on force balance was used to realize human-robot collaboration [19,20]. In addition, a new force sensing model [21][22][23] was referenced in the establishment of the static force model of the asymmetrical parallel robot, and the precision and efficiency could be guaranteed by the force sensing model.…”

“…Huda et al 23 analyzed the mobility and Tanabe et al 24,25 analyzed the utility workspace of 3-5R translational parallel mechanism. Yu et al 26 built a static model of 3-RUU translational parallel manipulator through the forces (torques) analysis of every link and the moving platform taking gravity of links into account. Fang and Tsai 27 synthesized the limb structures of translational parallel manipulators, which include the 3-RUU structure.…”

“…In 1994, the First International Symposium on Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery is held in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, USA. Thus, in many developed countries, such as the United States, Italy, Japan, and other countries, the government and academia focus on the development of medical robot system and deploy plenty of manpower and financial resources on the research field [2,3]. In the past few years, the production value of electronic medical devices, developed on the basis of medical robots system, is growing at 10 percent a year.…”
