“…This is the first record of the genus and species in Thailand, which is likely its easternmost distribution limit. With the addition of Cyphostemma, our studies (Trias-Blasi et al 2009, 2010Trias-Blasi 2010;Kochaiphat et al 2014) suggest that Thailand currently comprises some 10 genera of Vitaceae (an updated generic key is presented below) and c. 74 Vitaceae species.…”

“…The genus is distinguished by unbranched to digitately branched tendrils, dioecious sexual system and 4-lobed stigmas in the female flowers. Under this genus, 95 species are distributed in tropical and sub-tropical Asia, primarily in Southeast Asia, and extending to Australia (Planchon, 1887;Chen et al, 2011;Kochaiphat et al, 2014). Among them, Tetrastigma planicaule (Hook.f.)…”

“…There are a number of regional floras and monographs published for the genus Tetrastigma . Currently, Tetrastigma is reported from China (44 species; Li & Wu, ; Chen et al, ), Thailand (32 species; Craib, ; Kochaiphat et al, , ), the Philippines (24 species; Merrill, , , ; Wen et al, ), India (16 species; Shetty & Singh, ), the Malay Peninsula (12 species; Latiff, ), and Australia (5 species; Jackes, ). Latiff () provided a section‐level classification of Tetrastigma based on the morphology of fruits and seeds, and Li & Wu () presented an infrageneric classification of the genus based on inflorescences, seeds, tendril morphology, and leaf organization.…”

“…Latiff () provided a section‐level classification of Tetrastigma based on the morphology of fruits and seeds, and Li & Wu () presented an infrageneric classification of the genus based on inflorescences, seeds, tendril morphology, and leaf organization. A number of new species and new records have been published since the publication of the major regional floras as outlined above (Latiff, , ; Chen et al, ; Veldkamp, ; Yeo et al, ; Kochaiphat et al, , 2016; Balachandran et al, ; Wan Zakaria et al, ). However, the genus is still facing substantial and complex nomenclatural issues due to the high morphological diversity and the lack of a worldwide taxonomic revision.…”
