“…Rare earth oxysulphates (general formula Ln 2 O 2 SO 4 , Ln represents rare earth) have attracted considerable attention from both the theoretical and the technological points of view. [1][2][3] They have been considered candidates for oxygen storage/release, 4,5 used for auxiliary sensing electrodes 6 and used as a precursor for the synthesis of Ln 2 O 2 S. 7 In addition, Ln 2 O 2 SO 4 has turned out to have unusual magnetic properties at low temperature. 8 Up to now, rare earth oxysulphates can be prepared by conventional solid state reaction, 9 coprecipitation method, 10 template process 11 and ligand way, 3 while electrospinning means has not been described yet.…”

“…X-ray-stimulated luminescent phosphors are used in various areas including medicine, flaw detection, bio-imaging [1][2][3][4]. Lanthanide oxysulfides are widely used as X-ray stimulated phosphors [5,6]. Presently, terbium-activated gadolinium oxysulfide (Gd2O2S:Tb) is one of the most efficient phosphors of this kind [7][8][9].…”

“…So far, various synthetic approaches including the sulfide-fusion method, sulfidation, and reduction of the rare-earth sulfates have been employed for the synthesis of rare-earth oxysulfides. However, the sulfide-fusion method usually uses strong acids to remove the residual impurities, and the sulfidation and sulfide-fusion methods need H 2 S and CS 2 gas for reduction, which markedly restricts the application of these methods. Moreover, highly crystalline single-phase rare-earth oxysulfides are hard to obtain from these methods . To resolve these questions, the development of a low-energy and environmentally friendly synthesis method for the synthesis of rare-earth oxysulfide is highly desired.…”
