A new control method for state-constrained nonlinear switched systems with application to chemical process

Abstract: This paper presents a new control method for a class of nonlinear switched systems in strict feedback form with an state constraint. In the proposed approach, a nonlinear mapping is first introduced to transform the problem of controlling the switched system with state constraint to a new problem of regulating the transformed system without a constraint. By using the backstepping technique, the designed state feedback controller ensure that the corresponding closed-loop system is asymptotically stable without … Show more

“…As an important class of hybrid systems, consisting of a family of subsystems and a rule that allocates the active mode among them, switched systems have received widespread concern during the past decades. Switched systems are widely used in engineering systems that exhibit multiple dynamical modes due to the variable environment and all kinds of demands, such as chemical process, aircraft control systems, robotics, persistent monitoring problem, and so on. Switched systems own numerous interesting research topics containing stability analysis, controller design, switching law design, and so on.…”

“…Switched systems consist of several subsystems along with a switching rule that orchestrates the switching among these subsystems . Recently, numerous researchers have focused on switched systems since they can appropriately model many complex systems such as constrained robotics, chemical processes, manufacturing systems, multiagent systems, aircraft control, automotive engine control, and so on …”

“…In the last 2 decades, switched nonlinear systems have received more and more attentions due to the fact that a great number of real-world systems, such as networked control systems, 1 chemical process, 2 and aero-engine control systems, 3 can be modeled as switched nonlinear systems. Stability analysis and stabilizing controller design are important issues in the study of switched systems.…”
