Most recently, Huys et al (2006) ar gued that lernaeosoleids (Lernaeosoleidae; comprising species representing monotypic Lernaeosolea and monotypic Bobkabata Hogans & Benz, 1990) are highly derived chondra canthids (Chondracanthidae Milne Edwards, 1840), and thus Lernaeosoleidae should be considered a junior subjective synonym of Chondracanthidae.
