A New Functional Dependency in a Vague Relational Database Model

Abstract: In order to model the real world with imprecise and uncertain information, various extensions of the classical relational data model have been studied in literature using fuzzy set theory. However, vague set, as a generalized fuzzy set, has more powerful ability to process fuzzy information than fuzzy set. In this paper, we have proposed a vague relational database model and have defined a new kind of vague functional dependency (called  -vfd) based on the notion of  -equality of tuples and the idea of simil… Show more

“…Some cases it is very difficult to solve using fuzzy logic [1,2,3]. The vague set [5,6,7] is handled the uncertain data using truth and false values. Fuzzy and vague both data cannot be represented as three membership value, so they are unable to process uncertain data which is consists of true, indeterminacy and false, these three values.…”

“…A large number of another relational database models has been built based on the fuzzy set theory for modeling objects about which information may be vague. These model sare called fuzzy relational database models [5,[12][13][14][15] and they did not represent and handle probabilistic information of objects.…”
