A New Method for Loudness Evaluation of Noises with Impulsive Components

Abstract: A new method for the evaluation of noise loudness including impulsive sounds is proposed and applied to actual noises. The combination of time-weighting (2TC, the Two-Time-Constants integrator) and frequency-weighting (five existing functions) is examined. Zwicker's procedure for loudness calculation seems to be the best frequency weighting method among the five as far as the 2TC integrator is concerned.
