A new monoterpenoid indole alkaloid from Ervatamia chinensis

Abstract: To study the chemical constituents of the whole plants of E. chinensis, and find new or effective components. METHODS: Compounds were isolated by repeated silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. The structures were elucidated by NMR and HRESI-MS spectrometry. RESULTS: Six alkaloids were isolated from whole plants of E. chinensis, and their structures were elucidated as ervachinine E (1), rutaecarpine (2), 1-methyl-2-nonyl-4(1H)-quinolone (3), dihydroevocarpine (4), evocarpine (5), and 1-methyl-2-[… Show more

“…For instance, vernavosine ethyl ester isolated from stem bark of the Malayan T. corymbosa induced moderate dose dependent relaxation effects on phenylephrine‐induced contraction in rat aortic rings with an EC 50 value of 2.48 μ m . Similarly, rutaecarpine recently isolated from whole plant of the Chinese T. corymbosa has been previously shown to induce vasorelaxation in phasic and tonic phases of phenylephrine‐induced contraction (1 μ m –0.1 m m ) via an endothelium dependent mechanism that involves nitric oxide and gaunylyl cyclase …”

“…Ervachinine E ( 316 ) [ 165 ] and rutaecarpine ( 317 ) [ 166 ] were isolated from E. chinensis [ 165 ]. It displayed moderate antitumor activities against HL-60, SMMC-7721, A-549, and SW480 cancer cells, with values of IC 50 ranging between 6.59 and 14.70 μM.…”

“…Six vobasinyl-ibogan type bisindole alkaloids containing four new ones ervachinines A-D and ten known monoterpeniod indole alkaloids are descripted from the whole plant of Ervatamia chinensis (GUO & al [72]). Monoterpenoid indole and bisindole alkaloids with antitumor potential are previously reported from genus Ervatamia (HIRASAWA & al [73]).…”
