“…The sensor was successfully used as an indicating electrode during potentiometric mercury titration with EDTA. Said et al used bis[1-benzylbenzimidazoliumethyl]-4-methylbenzenesufonamide bromide as Ag + ionophore,108 but the calculated selectivity coefficients of the prepared sensor were very modest and resulted in an unattractive detection limit of 2•10 -6 M. Omran and co-workers reported on another Ag + ionophore -p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene with two triazole rings 109. An ISE based on this carrier exhibited a close to Nernstian response slope in the concentration range from 7.0•10 -6 M to 8.0•10 -3 M and a very modest detection limit of 3.9•10 -6 M. Unfortunately, the proposed modification of the calix[4]arene structure did not result in a significant improvement of the selectivity towards Ag + , and the worst selectivity was observed over potassium and sodium.A family of four Cu 2+ ionophores based on[14]tetraazaannulene derivatives was synthesized and characterized in ion-selective membranes by Kawakami and coworkers 110.…”

“…The plan of electrochemical detection technology is to design a sensitive, selective, and specific detection technique as alternative methods for several of current diagnosis examinations. These platforms measure the output signal by cyclic voltammetry (CV), square wave voltammetry (SWV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) .…”

“…(5) Ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) have emerged as a type of tool to minimize the cut breaks of the prior detection methods and have been proven to have fast response and high selectivity as well as sensitivity over a wide dynamic range. (6) Anion-selective membrane electrodes using ionophores as the active material were proven to deviate from the classic Hofmeister selectivity sequence, i.e., ClO − > SCN − > I − > NO − > Br − > NO − > Cl − . Several ionophores have been found to alter the Hofmeister order and metalloporphyrins are one of them.…”

“…The utilization of a plasticizer in the fabrication of sensors comes with many impediments, i.e., it leads to the exudation and leaching of plasticizers from the membrane to the environment and reduces the sensor lifetime. (6) The leaching of plasticizers weakens the adhesion of the polymeric membrane onto the glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Also, the reported toxicity of the commercially used plasticizers to the environment will have many drawbacks in the future, especially the pollution of the environment by these highly toxic chemicals.…”
