The mealybug genus Rastrococcus, comprising twenty‐two species, is revised. A key is presented together with detailed descriptions and illustrations of all the included species. The genus is distributed throughout Australasia and southern Asia, and precise locality and hostplant data are listed. New taxa are R.expeditionis sp.n., R.jabadiu sp.n., R.monachus sp.n., R.rubellus sp.n., R.taprobanicus sp.n. and R.viridarii sp.n. In addition, Lankacoccus gen.n. is erected for Phenacoccus ornatus Green, formerly included in Rastrococcus. New synonymies proposed are P. ballardi Newstead with R.mangiferae (Green) and R.cappariae Avasthi & Shafee with R. iceryoides (Green). Lectotypes are designated for P.ornatus, P.iceryoides, P. ballardi, Dactylopius (Pseudococcus) obtusus Newstead and Pseudococcus mangiferae.

Rastrococcus invadens Williams, a pest of fruit and ornamental trees in West Africa, was introduced from the Oriental Region. In 1986, a search was initiated in India for natural enemies of Rastrococcus spp. with a view to selecting potential biocontrol agents for introduction into West Africa. The results of the survey, laboratory breeding of the hosts and their natural enemies and host-specificity of the natural enemies are reported. Based on host-acceptance tests, two encyrtids, Gyranusoidea tebygi Noyes and Anagyrus sp., have been sent to UK for further screening.

The Indian species of the encyrtid genus Cheiloneurus are revised. A total of 32 species are recognized from India, including 9 species which are described as new. Also 6 species are placed in synonymy, and 5 species are recorded for the first time from India. The species recorded for the first time from India are: gonatopodis, chrysopae, latiscapus, saissetiae,and malayensis. The species placed in synonymy are the following with their senior synonyms mentioned in brackets: angustifrons Fatima & Shafee (bangalorensis), montanus Kaul & Agarwal (latifrons), brevipennis Fatima & Shafee (Yasumatsui), albifuniculus Hayat et al. (latiscapus) , insulus Kaul & Agarwal (saissetiae), indicus Singh & Agarwal (nigricornis).A key to the Indian species is also given. Species of this genus are generally hyperparasitoids on other hymenopteran primary parasitoids of mainly coccoids. The tribe Cheiloneurini is considered a synonym of Ectromatini.
