A new species of the genus Aprostocetus Westwood, 1833 (Hymenoptera, Eulophidae: Tetrastichinae) collected by E.S. Sugonyaev in galls on saxauls in Uzbekistan

Abstract: Aprostocetus (Aprostocetus) essugonjaevi sp.n. (Hymenoptera, Eulophidae, Tetrastichinae) is described and illustrated. Specimens of the type series were collected by E.S. Sugonyaev in 1965 in the Kyzyl Kum Desert in Uzbekistan in galls of the psyllids Caillardia spp. (Hemiptera, Aphalaridae) on white and black saxauls Haloxylon persicum and H. ammodendron (Amaranthaceae), where its larvae were predators of the thrips Haplothrips sp. (Thysanoptera, Phlaeothripidae).

“…A new species of Aprostocetus (Aprostocetus) essugonjaevi (Hymenoptera, Eulophidae: Tetrastichinae) was recorded in galls induced by the psyllids Caillardia spp. on H. persicum and H. ammodendron in Uzbekistan [36]. However, the species resources of parasitoids of flower-like galls still lack systematic and comprehensive research in Northern Xinjiang.…”
