A new symbolic program package for the interactive design of analog circuits

Abstract: A new program package which constitutes an environment for the interactive exploration and improvement of analog circuit topologies is presented in this paper. The environment is provided with functionalities which permit the graphical schematic entry of the circuit, the symbolic analysis, the approximation of the symbolic results, the use of an external numerical simulator and the graphical postprocessing of both the symbolic and numerical simulation results. These functionalities allow us to immediately evalu… Show more

“…In this paper, the Bode plots of the four network functions were derived using the program SapWin, developed by the same authors, for symbolic analysis of linear circuits [12]- [14]. This program allows for both the derivation of the network function expressions and the complete circuit simulation of linear circuits.…”

“…A small-signal equivalent circuit cannot describe the switching waveforms of a DC-DC converter, but it is suitable for an accurate, fast, straightforward frequency-domain analysis of a converter, including parametric analysis. Moreover, it is very suitable for simulators such as SPICE and SapWin [12]- [14]. In certain cases also the MOSFET delay time must be included in the frequency domain analysis [5] and [15].…”

“…1(b) has been implemented in a computer program SAPWIN [4]- [6], which is a Windows program package developed for symbolic and numerical simulation of linear, time-invariant circuits. This program has been utilized to automatically derive the sdomain expressions of the converter ac-model transfer functions and draw the related root-loci and Bode plots.…”

“…Several symbolic simulators exist, such as SNAP [1], FLOWUP [2], ISAAC [3], ASAP [4], BRAINS [5], SYNAP [6], SSPICE [7], MASSAP [8], SCAPP [9], EASY [10], and SAPWIN [11], in addition to programs in [12] and [13]. These programs can be used to generate the initial transfer functions for the P/G networks.…”
