A nomogram for predicting atrial fibrillation detected after acute ischemic stroke

Abstract: BackgroundAtrial fibrillation detected after stroke (AFDAS) is associated with an increased risk of ischemic stroke (IS) recurrence and death. Early diagnosis can help identify strategies for secondary prevention and improve prognosis. However, there are no validated predictive tools to assess the population at risk for AFDAS. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and validate a predictive model for assessing the incidence of AFDAS after acute ischemic stroke (AIS).MethodsThis study was a multicenter retrospe… Show more

“…Some clinical differences were observed between KAF and ADFAS patients. Median NIHSS score was greater in AFDAS patients as noted in other [11,12] but not all [13] studies. The association remained significant after adjustment for confounding variables.…”

“…Dynamic analysis of the RR interval performed in the hyperacute phase of AIS can help identify high-risk paroxysmal AF episodes [110]. Several predictive models have been developed for AFDAS [23,111]. Further, a study established a multimodal approach incorporating imaging, ECG, and original biomarkers [112].…”
