A Novel Frequency Reconfigurable Monopole Antenna With Switchable Characteristics Between Band-Notched Uwb and Wlan Applications

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents a novel frequency reconfigurable monopole antenna that has switchable notch characteristic at center frequency of 5.3 GHz. The proposed antenna consists of a defective ground structure (DGS) to enhance the impedance bandwidth from 3.17 to 13 GHz. The F-shaped parasitic element with three stubs (two vertical and one horizontal) are located on the back side of the radiating patch to achieve the band rejection characteristics from 4.9 GHz to 5.7 GHz. The metallic ground plane structur… Show more

“…However, such antennas when encounter an interfering signal, they generate band notch function by changing their configuration which then eliminate interference with the coexistent system. The reconfiguration of the antenna structures can be achieved by employing different kind of RF switches such as PIN diodes, RF MEMS and metal semiconductor field effect transistor (MESFET) …”

“…Oraizi et al, have developed reconfigurable microstrip antenna with switchable notch band between WLAN and downlink X‐band. An F‐shaped parasitic element is used for notch characteristics at the back side of radiating element connected with three stubs by means of PIN diodes to provide reconfigurability . A reconfigurable triple band notched antenna has been proposed by Ali et al, with the advantage of switching between single or dual or triple notch states.…”

“…Also, in [5] they removed all interfering frequency bands within the UWB spectrum and achieved Penta-notched behavior. Researchers also tried to achieve continuously tunable behavior [6], switchable behavior between narrow-band and wide-band [7], and reconfigurable notch band behavior [8,9]. All these techniques are limited up to two different behaviors from a single resonator.…”
