A Novel Fringe Field Switching Mode with 3-partition Pixel Slit

Abstract: We proposed a novel fringe field switching (FFS) liquid crystal (LC) mode with a 3-partition pixel slit. In this mode, a pixel branch is partitioned into 3 areas, namely, two edges and a center, where the edge slit angle is larger than the center slit angle. Thus the reverse twist region in the pixel edge is reduced and the LC dynamics in this region becomes very stable. Also, when an external pressure is applied to the panel at the operating voltage, the disclination line is barely extended into the active ar… Show more

“…This may be due to roughness effects, which are known to dramatically alter the anisotropy in multilayers. These have been treated theoretically [18] and have been observed experimentally in the Co/Pt system [19]. A variation from linearity at large values of t Gd is consistent with the observation of increased interfacial roughness for thick Gd layers [3].…”

“…This twist angle of LC is dominated by slit angle of electrodes with high driving voltage. And the slit angle affects performance directly [4]. In our study, LCs at position P can easily change the twist manner since the target twist angle is close to 90° relatively from the rubbing direction.…”

“…The w and l 0 are designed to be 3 and 5 mm, respectively, which are commercially used. 11,12) With this structure, the fringe electric field having both horizontal and vertical component is generated with a bias voltage. The slit angle (SA), is 0 in this case.…”
