A Novel Hydrazinecarbothioamide as a Potential Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel in HCl

Abstract: 2-(1-methyl-4-((E)-(2-methylbenzylidene)amino)-2-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3(2H)-ylidene)-hydrazineecarbothioamide (HCB) was synthesized as a corrosion inhibitor from the reaction of 4-aminoantipyrine, thiosemicarbazide and 2-methylbenzaldehyde. The corrosion inhibitory effects of HCB on mild steel in 1.0 M HCl were investigated using potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results showed that HCB inhibited mild steel corrosion in acidic solution and inhibition efficien… Show more

“…Structure modification of coumarin moiety exhibit inhibition of unit enzyme both in vitro and in vivo [16][17][18][19][20]. Corrosion inhibitors increase the impedance of mild steel toward corrosive solutions and inhibit or retard the corrosion through adsorbing the molecules of inhibitor on the surface of mild steel [21][22][23][24][25][26][27] in order to generate a barrier on the surface that block dynamic sites for mild steel [28][29][30]. Natural or synthesized organic corrosion inhibitors may have adsorbed on metal surface.…”

“…However, the working principles of this approach are not yet fully understood [15]. In the continuation of previous studies [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23], we focused on the photostabilization of PVC using 1,3,4-thiadiazole compounds. To our knowledge, there has been no attempt to investigate the photostabilization of PVC films by Schiff bases containing four 1,3,4-thiadiazole rings; therefore, in this study, we report the design of the Schiff bases and the study of their use as a photostabilizing reagents.…”

“…The planarity and pairs of free electrons in heteroatoms are an important reason that makes the adsorption of these derivatives on the metal surface good, also these heterocyclic derivatives are considered as noncytotoxic substances. [15] This environmentally friendly property makes them used as inhibitors to replacing some toxic organic inhibitors that are used in the same fields. [16] This work was designed to study (a) corrosion inhibition of copper in nitric acid solution by some thiazole and thiadiazole derivatives using weight loss method, (b) the effect of the substituent groups in thiazole derivatives on the inhibition efficiency, (c) the difference in inhibition ability between thiazole and thiadiazole derivatives, and also (d) the effect of temperature on the corrosion rate.…”
