A Novel Method to Achieve Large Scale Focal Plane Assembly Using Laser Metrology

Abstract

A novel method based on motor driving and laser metrology is introduced to achieve large scale focal plane assembly, which is driven by the requirement of wider field of view of space optical remote sensor.Key words: FPA, Detector Assembly, Laser Metrology Extended abstract:With the development of the space remote sensor, the large scale detector array is required. The paper present a novel method of assembling the large scale FPA(Focal plane array) by precisely adjusting every single detector assembly(DA) and measuring the mosaic surface which is based on highly precise driving of the miniature linear motor and non-contact laser distance measurement. The miniature linear motor used can adjust the DA in submicron and the non-contact laser distance measurement can provides the distance in micron. Since the laser metrology method can provide the distance between the reference surface and every random region on the detector, we can get the absolute space position of every single DA by data process. By adjusting every detector to coplanar, we can achieve the mechanical mosaic of the large scale FPA.
