A Novel Nanoparticles‐based Electrochemical Sensing Platform for Sensitive Detection of Oral Anticoagulant; Edoxaban in Human Plasma

Abstract: During COVID-19 pandemic, coagulopathy have been reported as a potential threat to most infected patients. Edoxaban (EDX) is a direct oral anticoagulant that is recently added to most COVID-19 treatment protocols either as therapy or prophylaxis. Herein, a novel nanoparticles modified glassy carbon potentiometric sensor was developed for the selective quantitation of EDX in human plasma. The electrochemical performance of the proposed sensor was assessed and compared to nanoparticle free sensor. An enhancement… Show more

“…According to the FDA EDX possess a p K a of 6.7 [4], and due to drug structure, it is ionized (protonated) for the most part (>99%) under pH 4.7 [21]. Monobasic sodium phosphate solution strongly affects EOF, even in low pH values.…”

“…A potentiometric sensor consisting of a glassy carbon electrode coated with an ionselective membrane and multi-walled carbon nanotubes was developed to measure edoxaban [91]. This modification improved the sensor's performance, including an expanded dynamic range from 6.0 µM to 1.0 mM of edoxaban and a reduced detection limit of 4.20 µM of edoxaban.…”
