A novel nomogram based on log odds of positive lymph nodes to predict survival for non-metastatic gallbladder adenocarcinoma after surgery

Abstract: The prognosis of non-metastatic gallbladder adenocarcinoma (NM-GBA) patients is affected by the status of metastatic lymph nodes. The purpose of this study was to explore the prognostic value of the log odds of positive lymph nodes (LODDS) and develop a novel nomogram to predict the overall survival in NM-GBA patients. A total of 1035 patients confirmed to have NM-GBA were selected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and further divided into training and validation cohorts. The… Show more

“…Fifthly, a precise prognostic nomogram would be selected through evaluating the performance, including discrimination (i.e., concordance index (C-index) based on bootstrap, time-dependent area under the curve (AUC)), calibration (i.e., calibration curve), and net benefit (i.e., decision curve analysis (DCA)). C-index and time-dependent AUC values exceed 0.7 suggested a reasonable estimation 28 . Accordingly, a web-based dynamic nomogram would be built as a decision-making tool.…”

“…Two-tailed P values < 0.05 were considered statistically signi cant. The overall patients were divided into the training cohort (n = 970) and validation cohort (n = 417) with a proportion of 7:3 randomly using the "Random Samples and Permutations" function in R (Liu, Huang et al 2020, Jiang, Zhang et al 2022). The training cohort was utilized for model construction, while the validation cohort was employed for model validation.…”

“…At present, the survival prediction for patients with GBA is mainly based on the eighth edition of the staging guidelines for tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) defined in the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system ( 9 , 10 ). However, staging can only be performed after surgery, for which only a minority of patients with GBA are eligible ( 11 ).…”
