“…No differences related to age and skin phototype of the volunteers regarding collagen increase were observed, although some authors suggest that the younger, the better the results to treatments that stimulate collagen synthesis 17,18. In this study, this connection was not observed, including the volunteer who presented the largest increase in the percentage of collagen, and who was the oldest volunteer in the sample (58 years).…”

“…Skin photodamage is not only correlated with age, but also with sunbathing, which strongly accelerates this process. Similarly, there was no difference with regard to response results after an application of monopolar RF, between younger (below 45 years of age) and older (aged 30‐60 years) patients in the study by Tay and Kwok …”

“…The heated fibroblasts also activate new collagen formation. 29,30 The increase in collagen types I and III in the dermis occurs in a three-dimensional form, with continuity of up to three months after treatment, since the RFT current causes the positive regulation of certain sirtuin genes (SIRT), favoring the deposition of new collagen and also increasing the longevity of fibroblasts. 26 In addition to that, the body responds to elevation in temperature with the formation of a protein called heat shock protein (HSP).…”

“…Tissue retraction occurs due to the denaturation of the triple helix; because, when collagen is heated, the protein undergoes a transition from a highly organized crystalline structure to a random gel state.
