A novel reactive power optimization solution using improved chaos PSO based on multi-agent architecture

Abstract: SUMMARY Reactive power optimization plays an important role in safe and economic operation of power systems. However, with multiple mixed variables, this issue is well known as complex, nonlinear and multi‐constrained. In this paper, combined particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm with chaos and multi‐agent system, a novel algorithm (MACPSO) is developed and applied to reactive power optimization of power system. It synthesizes advantages of the swarm search of PSO and the intelligent search of agents. Se… Show more

“…As an example, authors in present a reliable and effective algorithm based on hybrid modified imperialist competitive algorithm and invasive weed optimization method for solving the optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) problem in order to extend the field of evolutionary optimization for the ORPD. By the way, the main OFs in the ORPD problem, which have been considered in different literatures, are active power loss reduction, the decrease of voltage deviations, and the increase of voltage stability margin (VSM) . To determine an appropriate control action with regard to the reactive power flow improvement, it is necessary to monitor ORPD OFs unceasingly.…”

“…Chaos is characterized as unpredictability, randomicity and regularity, and it does not repeatedly generate all the variables according to its own rules in a certain range [27]. If it were brought into the ABC algorithm, the ABC algorithm can maintain the population diversity and increase the chances of searching for better solutions.…”
