A Novel Routing Algorithm for Vehicular Sensor Networks

Abstract: Recent advances in wireless communications are diffusing into many new applications. The tiny sensor node, which consists of sensing, data processing and communicating components, led to the idea of sensor networks. A sensor network composed of a large number of sensor nodes that are densely deployed either inside the phenomenon or very close to it. The applications envisioned for sensor networks vary from monitoring inhospitable habitats and disaster areas to operating indoors for intrusion detection and equi… Show more

“…Splitting big data into small blocks and distributing them to other vehicles will help solve the problem, and for most times, the data delivery rate is much higher than existing solutions. However, GPS-based localization may have some inherent defects [16], how to deal with the errors GPS brings in will be in our future works.…”

“…Road monitoring systems using GPS can help to avoid collisions and give an update about the road situation [3]. If there is any issue with a road, then the system will notify the driver and the driver can choose a better route.…”

“…CR-VASNET as an application of WSN needs special multihop wireless routing algorithm among the vehicular nodes, RSS, and the base stations. An energy efficient and fair routing algorithm for vehicular sensor networks has been proposed by us already [33]. CR-VASNET inherits network layer issues from traditional WSNs [34,35] and mobile ad hoc networks (MAENT) [36][37][38] such as infrastructure-less, unstable topology, multihop networking, energy efficiency data-centric routing, attribute-based routing, and localization, and rather than the mentioned challenges, the proposed routing protocols for CR-VASNET must consider dynamic spectrum access issues like channel access delay, interference, operating frequency, and bandwidth too.…”
