The wireless communication channel is the critical parameter that affects the throughput in the LTE-A network. The user equipment measures the quality of the wireless channel as the channel quality indicator (CQI) value and transmits it to eNodeB. The eNodeB uses the CQI value to select the adaptive modulation and coding method to achieve the highest throughput. This study analyzes the LTE-A network based on actual field measurements. Measurements were taken at 80 different locations in Samsun (Turkey) city center using TEMS Investigation software. RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, CQI, and throughput values were recorded for each measurement in a stationary position while downloading 500 MB of data. Then, the averages of these recorded data were calculated, and detailed analyses were performed. At the end of the study, the effects of RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, and CQI on the throughput value in the LTE-A network were examined, and a novel mathematical model was proposed that gives the relationship between them with 88.85% accuracy. It has also been observed that the accuracy of the proposed model can be increased by 4% with GRNN. In the last stage of the study, a new CQI mapping method based on real-field measurements for the LTE-A system was developed.

Presented in this study is a principal component analysis-artificial neural network based hybrid failure determination system that can make failure determination selectively and rapidly in asymmetrical external failures that might occur on the network side of a grid-connected induction generator. By creating asymmetrical external failures in the developed simulation model, analysis of noisy and unbalanced fluctuations that carry effects of positive, negative and zero sequence in currents were realized. The suggested model depends on entering data taken from the simulation into the artificial neural network model as a training data by being simplified with principal component analysis, in phase-phase, phase-ground and two phase-ground failures. The protection model makes correct classification with acceptable errors in case of above stated failures. However, in current fluctuations caused by sudden load changes and operation under an unbalanced load, it may remain insensitive by behaving selectively.

Abstract:This study aims to determine the mapping rule for signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) to channel quality indicator (CQI) based on DC-HSDPA real field measurements. The measurements were performed using the TEMS Investigation Tool at 85 different propagation mediums. The measurement results showed that the SIR-to-CQI mapping methods in the literature were insufficient to characterize actual radio environments; thus, proposal of a new empirical SIR-to-CQI mapping rule was aimed. This rule provides substantially better performance than the existing methods, and with this rule CQI can be generated from SIR with an accuracy of around 90% for DC-HSDPA systems.
