A Novel Ultra-Broadband Polarization Filter Based on a Microstructured Optical Fiber with a Gold-Coated Air Hole

Abstract: In this paper, a pentagonal microstructured optical fiber polarization filter by utilizing a surface plasmon resonance effect is proposed. The characteristics of the mode-coupling and filtering of the filter are studied by making use of the full-vector finite element method. The performance of the filter is greatly affected by the structure parameters.
