A Novel Visible-Light-Driven Photo-Fenton System Composed of Fe-Doped CdIn2S4/g-C3N4 Heterojunction and H2O2 to Remove Methyl Orange

Abstract: In this study, ternary Fe-doped CdIn2S4/g-C3N4 catalyst has been formed by a wet impregnation-calcination method and then characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, FT-IR, DRS, and photoluminescence spectra. With the experimental conditions of simulating visible-light irradiation, the photocatalytic degradation performance of methyl orange (MO) aqueous solution was studied by adding H2O2 as oxidant. After a series of characterization methods and photocatalytic activity tests on MO dye, the following conclusions were d… Show more

“…Polymeric graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) is a special 2D material . In recent years, it has seemed to be a kind of good supporter, and it is used for metal immobilization for advanced oxidation process catalysis. Doping metals before g-C 3 N 4 formation can lead to the coordination of metals with nitrogen atoms due to the nitrogen-rich environment, thereby generating M–N x bonds with metal atom clusters. ,, Due to the special structure, peroxide can be activated via a nonradical pathway for organic degradation . High-valent metal species, such as Fe(IV)/Fe(V) and Co(IV), exhibit potential in effectively degrading organic pollutants with electron-rich moieties and also have conspicuous virtue with respect to resistance to inorganic ions and natural organics due to its special selectivity for oxidation. , Using g-C 3 N 4 as a supporter for cobalt immobilization to generate high-valent metal species for the efficient removal of specific pollutants seems to be a promising strategy for the enhancement of wastewater treatment technology.…”
