A Novel Visualization System for Expressive Facial Motion Data Exploration

Abstract: Facial emotions and expressive facial motions have become an intrinsic part of many graphics systems and human computer interaction applications. The dynamics and high dimensionality of facial motion data make its exploration and processing challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel visualization system for expressive facial motion data exploration. Based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA) dimensionality reduction on anatomical facial sub regions, high dimensional facial motion data is mapped to 3D spac… Show more

“…High magnitude force more than 5000 is potential for carrying the 'anger' emotion and magnitude force lower than 5000 is similar to 'happiness' emotion characteristics. The result also matches with the previous research [17][18][19][20] which described thet red colour is able to represent negative e.g. anger and positive emotion e.g happiness.…”

“…For the reduction of clutter from the image the technique, generate the low dimensional spaces. These lower dimensional spaces also reduce the original data information so in that case, this technique is not so good as compared to the above three mentioned techniques [10] .…”

“…For the purpose of novel animation and the purpose of editing application like statistical models etc., the concept of facial coding systems is used in the past to find out the human expressions. These expressions are usually identified with the help of the basic facial units of actions [6] .…”

“…For example, an emotional facial expression can be detected from the eyes and lips of a human face [3]. Other researchers try to recognise emotions from several ways such as, colour [17][18][19][20], haptic device [9], acoustic [21], music [22] and dance movement [23].…”
