“…Receiving recommendations from healthcare professionals to attend colonoscopy screening and to adopt preventive measures were two of the best discriminating variables. Previous research also found that adherence to colonoscopy is associated with healthcare professional recommendations [37,39]. Receiving a recommendation for screening from a healthcare provider becomes even more important in the context of opportunistic screening.…”

“…Healthcare systems where professionals assess each patient and make screening recommendations based on international guidelines seem to be associated with significant improvements in colonoscopy screening adherence [37,38]. For first screeners and for individuals at a higher risk of CRC, the recommendation from healthcare providers was found to be the best predictor for screening uptake [39,40].…”

“…FIT and colonoscopy data were reviewed from a large population-the 'SCOOP' programme [27][28][29] -at increased risk for CRC and under surveillance with intermittently-scheduled colonoscopy plus a 2-sample FIT in the intervening years. Data from those completing FIT were analysed to determine within-individual variability between the first and second FIT, as well as population positivity rates for combinations of 1-sample FIT and 2-sample FIT with different f-Hb cut-offs.…”

“…High levels of patient satisfaction were reported by Knowles et al ., but this pilot study was limited by 1‐year follow‐up and small patient numbers (60 patients). Others have shown increased protocol compliance with colonoscopy, and avoidance of unnecessary colonoscopy, while not aiming to validate nurse‐led follow‐up in its entirety …”
