A passively Q-switched dual-wavelength laser with pulsed LD coaxial end-pumped configuration

Abstract: A passively Q-switched dual-wavelength laser with pulsed LD coaxial end-pumped configuration was demonstrated. A theoretical model was built to simulate the dynamic process of the pulsed LD coaxial end-pumped dual-wavelength laser. Experimental verifications were carried out based on Nd:YAG/Nd:YAP crystals. When the reflectivity of the output mirror and the initial transmission of the saturable absorber were both 50%, the maximum output single-pulse energy of pulsed-pumped passively Q-switched dual-wavelength … Show more

“…The model was tested by using it in numerical simulation of a laser system consist of Nd +3 : YAG used as AM and Cr +4 : YAG as a SA. The temporal behavior of each photons density of passive Q-switching pulse and population inversion density of AM ions resulting from the simulation showed good agreement with studies which dealt the theory of passive Q-switching (15)(16)(17) . This benchmark enhances reliability using the model.…”

“…There are many practical applications of the pulses generated by this technique such as biomedicine, precision measurement, spectroscopy, medical treatment, lidars, material processing, nonlinear optics, and range finders [3][4]. The development of lasers has always been conditioned by the availability of suitable materials for their uses Cr +4 :YAG saturable absorber material is very suitable for working with Nd +3 :YAG as active medium (AM) in passive Q-switched optical system [2,4]. The optical system that was simulated in this study included Cr +4 :YAG and Nd +3 :YAG as a SA and AM, respectively.…”
