A Phylogeny for Heterostraci (stem-gnathostomes)

Abstract: The armoured jawless fishes (ostracoderms) are major and widespread components of middle Palaeozoic ecosystems. As successive plesia on the gnathostome lineage, they reveal the early sequences of vertebrate evolution, including the assembly of the vertebrate skeleton.
