A pilot study to validate measures of the theory of reasoned action for organ donation behavior

Abstract: The present study aimed at taking the first attempt in validating the measures generated based on the theory of reasoned action (TRA). A total of 211 university students participated in the study, 95 were included in the exploratory factor analysis and 116 were included in the confirmatory factor analysis. The TRA measurements were established with adequate psychometric properties, internal consistency, and construct validity. Findings also suggested that attitude toward organ donation has both a cognitive and… Show more

“…Considering the perception items of organ donation were built upon the behavioral outcomes that were the foundation blocks of attitude according to the theory of reasoned action, hierarchical multiple regression analysis was also performed on the direct measure of attitude generated under the theory (Wong & Chow, 2018), with the perception dimensions entered into the model. There was no multicollinearity among the variables.…”

“…One note worth mentioning is that in completing the questionnaire, the participants were asked to think about their organ donation upon death in the present study that such instruction was seldom explicitly stated in the past research (Wong & Chow, 2018). Such expression is highly recommended that could stimulate the participants to answer the items in a deeper and more authentic manner with their imagery and feelings triggered, thereby enhancing the accuracy of the study.…”
