A Planar U Type Monopole Antenna for Uwb Applications

Abstract: Abstract-An ultra-wideband (UWB) U type monopole antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide (CPW) is proposed. It has low profile and very compact size (14.48 mm × 28.74 mm × 0.8 mm). It provides an wide impedance bandwidth ranging from 3.08 GHz to about 12.75 GHz adjustable by variation of its parameters, such as the relative permittivity and thickness of the substrate, width, and feed and ground plane dimensions. Parametric study is presented. Details of the proposed ultra-wideband design are described. Simulation … Show more

“…Simulations are executed in conditions which are 1, 2 and 4 transmit antennas at data rate 320, 400 and 480 Mbps. In the case of 4 transmit antenna, data rate is 3/4 that is confirmed from (4). Simulation results show that multi-antenna systems have the better performance than single antenna system and also as the number of antennas increases, the system has the better BER performance.…”

“…The UWB has attracted considerable interest in the research and standardization communities, due to its promising ability to provide high data rate at low cost with relatively low power consumption [1][2][3][4][5][6]. In the UWB communication, the data rate must be high enough (greater than 110 Mb/s) to satisfy a set of multimedia industry needs for wireless personal area networks (WPAN) communication, and the quality of service (QoS) capabilities are required to support multimedia data types.…”

“…According to the sanction of civil UWB in 3.1-10.6 GHz formulated by U.S. federal communications commission (FCC), researchers have proposed a lot of UWB antenna designs, which mainly focus on various flat heterotype monopole antennas, including circular disc monopole antenna [1], elliptical monopole antenna [2], and different polygonal monopole antennas [3][4][5]. In addition, these monopole antennas are fed by coplanar waveguide (CPW) [6] and microstrip line [7,8]. However, studies on UWB dipole antenna attract less attention than the monopole.…”
