A portal of educational resources: providing evidence for matching pedagogy with technology

Abstract: The TPACK (Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge) model presents the three types of knowledge that are necessary to implement a successful technology-based educational activity. It highlights how the intersections between TPK (Technological Pedagogical Knowledge), PCK (Pedagogical Content Knowledge) and TCK (Technological Content Knowledge) are not a sheer sum up of their components but new types of knowledge. This paper focuses on TPK, the intersection between technology knowledge and pedagogy knowledge … Show more

“…Results are reported elsewhere [38]; for the purpose of this paper, notice that one of the most significant feedbacks was on the "Browsing and serendipity" affordances. In other words, scholars explained that, as an effect of an interaction activity, the portal enticed them to perform further queries they had not thought about at first, and that in doing so they, so to speak, "stumbled" upon unexpected discoveries.…”

“…Many of the facets are related to the TPACK (Technology, Pedagogy and Content Knowledge) model, a well-known theory in the educational technology field [41]. More specifically, the portal aims at emphasizing the distributed and dynamic nature of TPACK: i.e., how the different kinds of knowledge required within a technology-based experience are not in just the teacher's head but distributed in the "environment" and also evolving, dynamically, as the experience unfolds [38,42]. Figure 2 shows the portal after a few interactions.…”

“…The issue of interdisciplinary integration in professional education pursues both a radical restructuring of the whole learning process by constructing a model of an innovative education institution, and the introduction of modern pedagogical methodologies and techniques and IT (Chu et al 2010;Crampton, Ragusa, and Cavanagh 2012;Di Blas et al 2014;Gendjova and Yordanova 2009;Sampson et al 2014).…”

“…A central challenge of interdisciplinary integration in professional education is the radical restructuring of the whole learning process, and the introduction of modern pedagogical methodologies, techniques and information technologies (Chu et al, 2010;Di Blas et al, 2014;Sampson et al, 2014), as well as the need to spark communication and collaboration that clearly crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries. Interdisciplinary project-based learning (IPBL) is regarded as crucial pedagogy that can provide sufficient training in teamwork by developing multidiscipline teams similar to those that operate in industry.…”
