A practical method of comparing luminous intensity distributions

Abstract: In the field of goniophotometry, as in many other measurement disciplines, there is an increasing need for laboratories to become ISO-17025 accredited. This involves, amongst other things, characterisation of the goniophotometric measurement for uncertainty analysis and laboratory intercomparisons. Simple comparison of the luminous intensity measurements, however, can lead to large errors where there is a steep luminous intensity gradient when the only difference between the two sets of measurements is a small… Show more

“…For applications in the comparison of gonio-photometric measurements of luminaires assuming identical instrumentation, a range of 98% to 99% is considered good and 99% to 100% very good [38]. When different instruments or computational methods are employed, a lower degree of accordance can be expected.…”

“…The level of global accordance of f A,B 84% and f RB = 92% is low compared to results that are referred as "good" ( 98%) or "very good" ( 99%) in the literature [24]. This rating is related to a comparison of measurements of the same luminaires with identical goniophotometers, but the results for the reference beams f RB = 92% are expected to be in this range.…”
