A preliminary comparison between the effects of red and infrared laser irradiation on viability and proliferation of SHED

Abstract: The aim of this preliminary study was to compare the effects of different energy densities from red and infrared low-level laser (LLL) on viability and proliferation of stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED). SHED were irradiated with red laser (R) or infrared laser (IR) set with the following dosimetry: 1.2 J/cm (0.05 J), 2.5 J/cm (0.1 J), 5.0 J/cm (0.2 J), and 7.5 J/cm (0.3 J). Positive (C+) and negative (C-) control groups comprised non-irradiated cells. Data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA … Show more

“…Absolute CH 3 OH (100 μl) was added to dissolve the crystal violet dye per well to measure the optical density of the produced color using Anthos Zenyth 200rt plate reader at 570 nm. 60 The IC 50 value for each tested compound which is corresponding to its minimum concentration required to reduce the virus infectivity by 50% in comparison to the virus control was calculated.…”

“…The end power of each laser was checked by Power Meter (Laserpoint, Italy) prior to irradiation. Cell proliferation was assessed by MTT conducted at 24, 72 and 120 h following PBM irradiation (28).…”

“…In general, parameter standardization in PBM is necessary in order to improve the effects of this technology (27). This study was motivated by the fact the number of studies focused on the comparison of various energy densities and wavelengths of lasers in PBM treatments is limited (7,(26)(27)(28). Thus, this study was focused on comparing the PBM effects of various energy densities and wavelengths of diode lasers on the proliferation of human gingival fibroblast cells.…”
