A Privacy-Enabled, Blockchain-Based Smart Marketplace

Abstract: Advancements in sensor-enabled devices led to the emergence of resource trading models for smart communities, such as the smart marketplace (SMP). Most of the proposed SMP architectures are based on blockchain technology, which has a public ledger to achieve transparency. Consequently, safeguarding the participant’s anonymity, untraceability, and transactional data privacy during trading becomes a challenging task. Most of the existing solutions to achieve anonymity are based on multiple account mapping, which… Show more

“…Interesting solutions have been proposed in the context of blockchain-based measurement sharing using smart marketplaces: [23] proposes a system for sharing smart grid measurements while preserving the privacy of the data owners using differential privacy to allow data owners to share their data without revealing too much about themselves. In [24] a lightweight privacyenabled message exchange mechanism is presented and in [25] the technique is extended using a protocol for anonymity and intractability of transaction data with cryptographic Proof-of-Authority, RSA and Chinese reminder threorem.…”

“…TEE is a security feature that ensures the confidential execution of sensitive operations, protecting them from unauthorized access even in the presence of a compromised overall system. Thanks to distributed systems, blockchain technology can provide several benefits in IoT networks comprised of embedded devices, such as security, autonomy, resilience, and anonymity [5]- [7]. Furthermore, since blockchain technology is widely adopted for IoT, embedded devices are rising as an important smart contract carrier [8], [9].…”
