A procedure for eliminating sulfide interference on silica colorimetric analysis

Abstract: Two different approaches were tested in this study to suppress sulfide interference in the silicomolybdate method of silica determination, namely: oxidation of sulfide to elemental sulfur; and conversion of the sulfide species to H 2 S and stripping by air bubbling. Based on the results obtained the latter approach is deemed to represent the better and quicker option to eliminate sulfide interference in silica colorimetric analysis.
