“…Aging research has also focused on positive aspects of old age (Kaufman, 1986; Takahashi and Takahagi, 1996). Since the 2000s, the need to focus on positive aspects has called for the examination of successful aging (Katagiri, 2012; Oda, 2004), active aging (Kaneko, 2014; Maeda, 2006), and productive aging (Saito, 2006). These studies have shown that old age can be an active and productive period of life, with most suggesting that an active life will likely result in a successful retirement period.…”

“…The latest generation of graphite‐containing work roll shell materials, the so‐called “graphitic HSS” was intensively developed in the past 10 years. [ 2–4 ] These materials consist of significantly higher amounts of carbide forming elements such as V, Mo, W, Nb, and Ti in comparison to carbide‐enhanced indefinite‐chill materials with the aim to close the gap between high‐speed steel and indefinite‐chill work roll shell materials. In other words, this material type was developed to unify the high wear resistance of high‐speed steel materials and the low sensitivity against crack formation and propagation as well as the good surface quality of indefinite‐chill grades.…”
