Usability is considered to be one of the most important quality factors for products, and accordingly, there are a number of MDWE methods existing which can develop web applications. With the rapid evolution of web applications, existing MDWE methods has a number of weaknesses was appeared in the process development web applications; one of the issues is usability problem. There are many factors to increase usability of MDWE methods such as adaptability, lifecycle, user interface and so on. In this paper, we define a new framework to increase usability for MDWE methods through two important factors that are adaptability and lifecycle. Increased usability will ultimately lead to increased quality of the methods. Furthermore, increased quality of web engineering solutions would subsequently lead to improved usability for websites and web applications.

Usability is crucial to determine the success/failure of the user interfaces. This can explain the ever-increasing number of publications addressing the problem of usability integration during the development process. These studies aim to guide the development process of the user interface according to a set of usability attributes. In fact, the selection of the alternative transformation depends on the usability attributes that will be met. However, the major weakness of these studies is related to the choice of the optimal alternative model transformation. The present paper introduces an approach that addresses this weakness and generates the user interface conceptual model with an optimal usability. The main objective is to select from all the possible alternative transformations the optimal one which maximizes the usability value in a specific context (e.g., smallscreen device, novice user). By considering the inherent features of the model-driven engineering, the proposed approach aims to generate the final user interface with an optimal usability value.

In the context of model-driven generation of (graphical) user interfaces, systematic customization of automatically determined results is a challenge. While it may seem obvious that certain customizations can be expressed as specific transformation rules, adding such rules usually requires adaptation of existing rules and may lead to an unmanageable rule set.In this paper, we propose a new approach for managing model transformation rules for customization of graphical user interfaces in the context of their automated generation. Our approach facilitates managing transformation rules, because already existing rules do not have to be changed or replaced. A trial application provided some empirical evidence of the feasibility of our new approach. It even showed that some customization rules can be reused for generating graphical user interfaces for other devices with different properties, in effect for multi-device generation.
