A prostate cancer patient with isolated lung metastases: a case report

Abstract: Pulmonary involvement has been reported in >40% of autopsy series in patients with metastatic prostate cancer; however, isolated lung metastases have been documented in <1% of cases and 43.5%(10/23) cases underwent surgical resection and most of them have good outcome. We present a 74-year-old male Gleason high-grade prostate cancer patient with initially negative PSA and isolated pulmonary lesion which was confirmed as lung metastasis by resection. This patient received first-line endocrine therapy with leupr… Show more

“…Lung metastasis is a prevalent type of distant metastasis in PCa patients. [ 32 ] Therefore, we developed a PCa lung metastasis model to assess the effect of the solid systemic anti‐tumor immune response triggered by the “TSD@LSN‐D + L” treatment on the suppression of tumor metastasis. In this study, mice were injected with RM‐1 cells (100 µL, 2×10 5 cells/mouse) in the tail vein on day 10 after the treatments started (Figure 6g).…”

“…In clinical practice, lung metastasis is the more common type of distant metastasis among patients with PCa. [ 30 ] Considering that YBS‐BMS NPs‐RKC‐mediated dual‐pronged PIT, as demonstrated in the above study, can effectively activate the organism's antitumor immunity and facilitate the maintenance of the body's immunological memory, we would like to evaluate whether it could exert an inhibitory effect in the process of PCa lung metastasis. According to the experiment schedule presented in Figure 5i , the PCa lung metastasis model was established.…”

“…Lung-only metastasis consists of less than 1% of all metastatic prostate cancers. The pathophysiology behind it is not understood well [5]. As such, treatment options can vary from surgical excision of lung lesions to hormonal therapy [6].…”
