A Psychometric Investigation of the Georgian Version of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire

Abstract: The current study presents the results of the adaptation of the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue; Petrides, 2009 ) to the Georgian population. Nine hundred twenty two individuals participated in the standardization of the instrument (267 male and 655 female participants, from 17 to 70 years). Results from exploratory factor analyses indicate that the factor structure of the British TEIQue is broadly replicated in the Georgian translation. The Georgian Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnair… Show more

“…The TEIQue's factor structure has been replicated across cultures and languages, using translations of the full form (e.g., Freudenthaler, Neubauer, Gabler, Scherl, & Rindermann, 2008;Martskvishvili, Arutinov, & Mestvirishvili, 2013;Mikolajczak, Luminet, Leroy, & Roy, 2007). A short form, the TEIQue-SF, is a 30-item measure of global trait EI, and subscale scores satisfying the minimum standard for reliability can be derived and have been frequently used in research (e.g., Arora et al, 2011;Siegling, Saklofske, Vesely, & Nordstokke, 2012).…”

“…The Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (T.E.I.Q.ue.) has been translated in many languages and proved to be reliable and valid in different cultural and linguistic contexts (Martskvishvili, Arutinov, & Mestvirishvili, 2013;G€ okçen, Furnham, Mavroveli, & Petrides, 2014;Stamatopoulou, Galanis, Tzavella, Petrides, & Prezerakos, 2018).…”

“…In adults, trait EI is comprehensively measured via the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue; Petrides, 2009), which comprises 15 facets organized into four broad factors: well-being, self-control, emotionality and sociability. Its various versions, forms and translations have been thoroughly psychometrically evaluated and extensively used in research internationally (see Aluja, Blanch, & Petrides, 2016;Freudenthaler, Neubauer, Gabler, Scherl, & Rindermann, 2008;Jolić Marjanović & Altaras Dimitrijević, 2014;Martskvishvili, Arutinov, & Mestvirishvili, 2013;Stamatopoulou, Galanis, & Prezerakos, 2016).…”
