[ 15 ] It is time that clinicians recognize the potential role of yoga professionals in health care service and work with yoga therapists to form a team. Working together, clinicians will be able to recognize the appropriate conditions for referral to yoga therapy, and therapists will be able to understand the required indications and contraindications for different yoga practices.…”

“…Furthermore, there has simultaneously been an increase in research on the effects of yoga practice in the last 10 years which complements the advances in yoga education. [ 10 ] These factors have influenced yoga professionals; hence, as for other professions which have systematized instruction,[ 11 ] yoga professionals are more organized, theoretical, research-minded, and bureaucratic compared to earlier on, before systematizing education in yoga. This change may in turn influence the field of yoga as described here.…”

“…The earliest scientific literature from PubMed databases is from 1948. [ 4 5 ] From 1948 to 2021, a total of 6628 articles were published in PubMed with the term “yoga,” and 75.9% of these researches have been published in the last decade. There are multiple reasons to substantiate this recent exponential increase in yoga publications: (1) its popularity as a low-cost, non-pharmacological health promotion and stress management tool, (2) global shift toward integrative approaches in medicine and focus on prevention, (3) global interest in using yoga as a tool to connect people, and (4) rising support from international and national research agencies and scholarly interest.…”
